IT Operations Manager, EMEA
Location; Dordrecht

Department/ BU Description:
The total IT organization of Biomet is around 45 people. The IT operations department is around 20 people, 15 in The Netherlands and 5 abroad and is organized in a matrix structure. The IT operations department is responsible for Sap (main focus) and other business applications.

Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and day-to-day management of the European Sap Competency Center for the provision of Sap and related applications including associated services to Biomet EMEA and China business units.

The Sap Competency Centre generates added value for Biomet EMEA by leveraging central and remote Sap support personnel. The IT Operations Manager has responsibility for overall human resource planning, hiring, and development of staff within the operations team. The focus of the operations team is the execution of Biomet EMEA Sap and related applications support and implementation strategies.

The operations manager ensures that, the competency team inclusive the SME leads, specialists and other third party providers e.g. contractors, consultants and offshore companies, discharge their responsibilities in line with agreed project plans, and promote the effective and efficient use of Sap and related applications to our business users.

The candidate has the opportunity to use his experience to move Biomet to the next level and be a key member of the European IT management team.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Ownership and control of application systems that are installed in the Biomet Europe (Sap) system landscape;

Ability to manage multiple teams (internal and external) within EMEA region;

Manage Sap developments across Biomet EMEA;

Ensure optimal use of Sap resource, knowledge and funding;

Responsible for Operations department budget.

Reports to the European IT Director on budget, progress and projects.

Ensure that all business departments are fully informed regarding Sap functionality and related application content.

Ensure Sla's are in place with the business and that the service provided delivers in line with the Sla. Sla will be reviewed monthly with customers;

Use performance metrics to drive improvements;

Act as a change agent;

Work with the business clients to build forward looking work plans that ensure a balance between Competency Centre resource availability and work plan commitment;

Delivery of projects to timescale and budget that are resourced within the Competency Centre;

Understands and applies Biomet IT policies, procedures and controls;

Works with compliance officer to ensure application and system customization meets regulatory requirements;

Ensure that the delivery of corporate communication within the team is appropriate;

Undertake Performance Reviews for direct reports;

Overall responsibility for the morale and motivation of the Operations Department members;

Responsible for continuous improvement of performance of team members through policy, process and training in line with Biomet IT standards;

Provides leadership in the development of functional skills in others through active knowledge sharing;

Represents the operation department on internal steering groups and relevant external Sap events;

Point of contact for operations department. Prime responsibility for the relationship with software vendors.

Functie eisen

Profile of suitable candidate:

Bachelor or Master degree in computer science, engineering, or business administration;

A specialization in Management Information Systems preferred. Advanced degrees are desirable;

6+ experience in Sap Erp Implementation projects;

5+ years of program management experience in a leadership role;

Management experience

Seasoned Sap operational support experience is key.

Experience or exposure to IT Governance;

Exposure to ITIL Framework;

An excellent leader with skills and know how to get the best from the team;

Understands Sap environment and ability to demonstrate a working, cross-modular knowledge and experience of Sap;

Proven delivery in an Sap leadership role;

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills;

Strong supervisory, coaching and project management skills;

Strong organizational, multi-tasking, decision-making and time-management skills;

Excellent negotiation, influence, mediation and conflict management skills.
