Function description

The KB is looking for a DevOps Engineer with the profile of a backend developer. In your role of DevOps Engineer you will contribute to the Open Search Platform (OZP) and do the operational management based on DevOps. The RMP ensures that bibliographic metadata of both physical and digital collections are enriched and made searchable in a standardised manner. The RMP fulfils a central function for the National Digital Library and the National Library Catalogue and makes all physical and digital collections of the publicly funded public libraries searchable. For this challenging task of the KB we are looking for a Software Engineer. As a Software Engineer you will be the point of contact from within the operation, but you will also participate in the further development of the system. Of course, you will not do this alone, but as a team, with experience in Agile and Scrum. On a regular basis, you will also be involved in the consignment service. After all, IT systems are available 24/7. However, the on-call service is limited to 17/7.

Requirements
  • Minimal HBO work and thinking level.
  • Thorough experience developing in Java and familiar with Python, but you are also familiar with software development tooling such as GIT.
  • Knowledge of and experience with operational management of Linux and applications where knowledge of Ansible is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience with search indexes (Lucene based) and of OAI-PMH harvesting protocol is an advantage.
  • Good analytical skills, pragmatic, solution and result oriented, proactive, creative.
  • Business and technical communication skills, in Dutch and English.
  • Experience working within an Agile environment (Scrum) and you are a team player.

Other info Conditions of employment
  • A temporary employment contract for 40 hours a week, initially for the period of 1 year, with the prospect of an extension.
  • A good salary between € 2,807.00 and € 4,452.00 gross per month (scale 10) based on 40 hours, a thirteenth month (8.33%) and full reimbursement of your daily travel expenses.
  • You accrue pension through the ABP pension fund.
