Function description Information architect
Ministry of Justice and Security, Administrative Department

Job description
The Directorate-General for Justice and Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Justice and Security is working to improve the provision of information. In addition, the IV cluster is the centre of expertise. As an information architect, you play an important advisory role in this. So that management information can be better used for, among other things, steering and policy evaluation.

As an information architect, you advise the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Directorate-General for Justice and Law Enforcement (DGRR) and the Director-General on the information architecture of the DGRR to be established. You also promote working under architecture and make sure that generic IV solutions are chosen as much as possible. You create support for this and know how to motivate the parties involved. Within the Directorate-General, you are responsible for managing the business data model. This also makes you the interlocutor, advisor and representative of the various management layers and employees in the directorate.

Because you maintain easy contact with the various parties inside and outside the department, you know what's going on. You proactively keep yourself informed of policy initiatives and projects. In order to be able to provide adequate advice, you make an inventory of the needs and requirements of the users. You offer starting points, support and structure in the role of the (future) client. And you will help managements and partners to think in a structured way about how the provision of information needs to develop in order to achieve the set policy objectives.

Effortlessly switch between vision, goals, concrete actions and results. You not only ensure the integration of information systems and data within the organisation, but above all with chain partners. In doing so, you identify inefficiencies and advise on solutions. You fulfill a bridging function between desired and necessary developments on the one hand, and the technical solutions that can give substance to this on the other hand.

Your tasks
  • You advise on the DGRR information architecture from the departmental and government-wide frameworks, explain this advice and defend your choices.
  • You develop an integral vision of the DGRR's information architecture, also in relation to the chain partners.
  • You explore innovations in the field of architecture, information provision and ICT and their impact.
  • If necessary, you motivate your advice on deviations from departmental and government-wide architectural frameworks - 'comply or explain'.
  • You draw up global architecture sketches and project start-up architectures and assess the subsequent solution architecture drawn up by the suppliers.
  • You represent the DGRR in the Architecture Council - the gateway to the CIO Council - and are the discussion partner for the Computerisation and Purchasing Directorate in the field of architecture from the DGRR policy domain.
  • You advise the strategic information manager and therefore also the CIO-DGRR on the right direction for the information architecture with a view to the relevant consultative bodies. In order to achieve the objectives of the department, and specifically the DGRR, and to minimise risks to the progress of the primary process.
  • You will advise on information architecture and the relationship between the worlds of policy, implementation and ICT technology.
