Consolidation System Accountant for AkzoNobel
A key technical role in a major financial consolidation

We currently seek a Consolidation System Accountant to manage and maintain the technical environment as we undertake a significant and wide-ranging consolidation of the accounting and reporting systems across our BUs.

Help to create a new Citrix environment
FPAC, the central financial department for AkzoNobel Car Refinishes (CR), is responsible for financial reporting, consolidation, annual audits, budgets and compliance across all BUs within CR. From April 2010, FPAC will also host the newly formed Performance Coatings Shared Reporting Center (SRC). This will consolidate and coordinate all financial activities with Performance Coatings, including all three CR BUs, within a Citrix environment. The SRC will provide technical consolidation and reporting for month, quarter, half and year end closes, and RFs. It will also implement, maintain and host the technical environment and software used, while performing financial analysis, training and the assisting in external and internal audits.

An important technical challenge
The SRC is an important development for AkzoNobel Performance Coatings, and the successful applicant for the role of Consolidation System Accountant will be key to its introduction and implementation. Within this context, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the technical environment and the software, and for ensuring timely technical upgrades. This will involve the proper follow up on the release schedules, the testing of systems and releases, application rebuilds, and ensuring back-up.

You will also provide technical assistance and training to the BUs and end-users where required, while maintaining relevant SLAs and liaising with key suppliers and all relevant bodies and personnel within the SRC. Further to the technical implementation and maintenance, you will be gathering information for, and prepare, the SRC KPI reporting each quarter for the Manager SRC. You will also assist CR accountants with the consolidation and reporting process for one of the CR BUs, ensuring that the timeliness, quality and accuracy of the reporting process is adhered to. You will report to the SRC Manager and keep the BU Accounting Manager informed.

To apply for this position you will have undergone a bachelor accounting and/or financial education (e.g. HEAO/SPD) or a mid-level education with relevant, extensive experience (MEAO).

Strong IT skills are fundamental to the role. It is essential that you have at least two or three years of advanced experience with Citrix and Hyperion Enterprise and consolidation and reporting systems. Experience of reporting tools like Excel, Power Point, SAP and Cognos will also be an advantage. With this will come effective communication skills, especially in English, along with strong analytical and organizational skills. The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and to set priorities, is important. Given the nature of the role, you will need to be a hands-on team player with the proactive flexibility and persistence to continuously search for process and efficiency improvements.
